About Project 365
Thanks for stopping by my blog! This is Year 2 of my Project365 blog. What is a Project 365? It's a photo challenge involving people from all over the world posting one photo per day throughout 2011. Some photographers choose themes, however for now my photos will be totally random. I will be shooting with my Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSi-18-55mm, 75-300mm zoom and 100mm 2.8 macro lenses. I edit in iPhoto and Photoshop Elements 9. Not all photos are "perfect"; the purpose is to make photography an everyday event.
I am not a professional. Photography has always been a diversion of mine. I am a primary grade teacher and passionate tech. enthusiast. I consider myself an experienced amateur with LOTS to learn!
You will find links to other photographers in the sidebar- do check them out! I have also joined the Flickr EdTech 365/2011 Group, and you can click this link to view the entire pool. I will be posting my photos to their group pool, as well as here on my photo blog. I welcome your constructive criticism!

Day 203- Converse
My daughter loves Converse sneakers, and just got an awesome deal on these dark gray ones. Processed this with PSE9 via the "Cutout" effect. Looks almost like a painting!

Day 202- Emergency
Found this lighted outlet at the hospital today. Not sure why it says, "Emergency". If you use it, does it have more power or something???

Day 201- Gravestone
As I walked through a local cemetery recently, I noticed this fellow perched on one of the stones.
Day 200- Berries
When I was a kid, we used to call these "choke cherries", but I'm not sure if that's the true name. Any ideas? The birds seem to love 'em!
Day 199- Perfectly Purple
Not sure what this flower is. The post title says it all, though!
Day 198- Pillar
This pillar has so much character in its texture.
Day 197- Lacey
I love to capture Queen Anne's Lace each year!

Day 196- Daisy 2011
I posted a daisy last summer about this time too! Luckily they don't all look identical!
Day 195- Yellow Lily
New lilies are blooming in my perennial garden this year. Wish I remember planting them!
Day 194- Sky on Fire
I looked to the sky one night last week and noticed it was alive with pinks, purples and oranges. I only wish there hadn't been all those trees in the way!
Day 193- Lomo Iris
Found this shot taken about a month ago. Processed it with Lomo camera effect.

Day 192- The Help
Guess what I just downloaded today?
Day 191- Floral Stripes
Loved these floral stripes found in a local park.
Day 190- Droplet
This early morning droplet hung from a single blade.
Day 189- Caterpillar
Lots of caterpillars out this time of year. Hopefully this little guy won't eat the leaves from trees, or give anyone an allergic reaction!

Day 187- Sweet Ending
This shot marks the end of my trip to ISTE 2011 in Philadelphia. Before heading out for a late-night bus trip to return home, I I sampled a yummy creation from a shop called "Sweet Endings". They are a chain of frozen yogurt shops where you choose the delicious flavor of frozen yogurt you'd like, and then (much like a salad bar) add your toppings. We don't have anything like this around here, and the treat really wound up my trip in a delicious way!

Day 185- Irish Memorial
This memorial was erected in Philly in 2002 in remembrance of over 1 million Irish who emigrated to escape Ireland's Great Hunger of 1845-1850. The memorial was cast with rough shapes, almost as if it were still a work of clay. A powerful work of art! My colleague and I enjoyed dinner that evening at a traditional Irish pub!

Day 184- All You Need Is Love
This is Robert Indiana's acclaimed 1976 "Love Statue", found in Philly's JFK Plaza. It was hard to get a clear shot of it, as it's clearly a famous place to have one's picture taken with a sweetheart!

Day 183- City Hall
Philadelphia City Hall is the world's second-tallest masonry building. It was built between 1871-1901 and is amazingly large! The building boasts over 250 sculptures, both interior and exterior. Apparently the building itself features over 700 rooms, taking up over 14 acres of floor space! City Hall's clock can be heard throughout out city, striking on the hour; a loud, ominous sound!

Day 182- Windows
Philadelphia is a fabulous place to take in a variety of architecture styles. Georgian and Federal styles from the 18th century, mixed with Greek revival from the beginning of the 19th century are found all about the city. The second half of the 19th century resulted in a variety of Victorian architecture as well. Glass and granite skyscrapers also adorn the sky from the 20th century.

Day 181- Classic
Yes, it's a Philly cheesesteak from the Reading Terminal Market. Yes, I ate the whole thing. Yes, 'twas delicious!

Day 180- Tree of Knowledge
Philadelphia's renowned Mural Arts program is responsible for over 3,000 murals adorning various buildings throughout the city. This one is entitled "Tree of Knowledge" and is found at the corner of 13th and Market Streets, not far from my hotel room. This program started as an anti-graffiti initiative back in 1984, and has become one of their signature art programs. This is one of 17 murals found along the "Mural Mile", and can accessed via guided walking tours, as well as self-guided podcasts and cell phone tours! These murals were just amazing!

Day 178- Ben's Grave
Benjamin Franklin was buried at the Christ Church Burial Ground in Philadelphia. Apparently it's customary to toss pennies (and in some cases nickels, dimes or quarters) onto his grave as a symbol of good luck, as well as honor his motto, "a penny saved is a penny earned".

Day 176- Elfreth's Alley
Elfreth's Alley is popularly known as "our nation’s oldest residential street" – dates back to the first days of the eighteenth century. Many residences are still inhabited.

Day 173- All "Keyed Up"
The influence of Ben Franklin was evident all over Philadelphia, along with the provocative overabundance of statues. Some hundreds of years old; others (like this one) less than 10 years old. If you look closely you can see that the surface of Ben's coat is covered with a variety of keys (a connection with the "keystone state"?).

Day 172- Liberty Bell
I am so far behind with my posting! I am hoping to get caught up once and for all. Last week I happily attended ISTE 2011 in Philadelphia. I had an amazing time with colleagues from our state's technology association! I will be posting lots of shots from that visit! This shot is pretty self-explanatory. (I even Photoshopped out a girl's arm!)
