I was doing some cleaning at school this afternoon and found a bag of marbles. This would be one of those big marbles, with the others all smaller. It's been about 35 years since I've played marbles. I think we called the big one a "whopper", but apparently there are a host of other names: bowler, bumboozer, bumbo, and taw are all names given to the large marble in a game of marbles. What did you call it?

Pumpkin Festival

Peace Rock
So I came home from a bad day at school with a throbbing headache, and in search of a "pic of the day". No sooner had I told my husband that I was "off to my happy place" (ie. shooting pictures), than I looked down one of my garden beds and saw this. Low Tide
I headed down to a local state park this morning, unsure of what I might capture. Luckily it was low tide, which afforded me all kinds of options I wouldn't have had at high tide! Ready, Aim...
Our playground has several of these clever "snowman targets" designed to encourage the kids to wallop their snowball at an inanimate object versus another student. We haven't had as severe a winter here (yet) as we might have had, although poor Mr. Snowman is missing the greater portion of his face! It's been a few years since he was first painted. How Cold Is It?
