About Project 365

Thanks for stopping by my blog! This is Year 2 of my Project365 blog. What is a Project 365? It's a photo challenge involving people from all over the world posting one photo per day throughout 2011. Some photographers choose themes, however for now my photos will be totally random. I will be shooting with my Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSi-18-55mm, 75-300mm zoom and 100mm 2.8 macro lenses. I edit in iPhoto and Photoshop Elements 9. Not all photos are "perfect"; the purpose is to make photography an everyday event.

I am not a professional. Photography has always been a diversion of mine. I am a primary grade teacher and passionate tech. enthusiast. I consider myself an experienced amateur with LOTS to learn!

You will find links to other photographers in the sidebar- do check them out! I have also joined the Flickr EdTech 365/2011 Group, and you can click this link to view the entire pool. I will be posting my photos to their group pool, as well as here on my photo blog. I welcome your constructive criticism!

Guidelines

1. Photos are to be taken in 2011.
2. Post your own work only.
3. Images may be edited or unedited- your choice.
4. Keep your images, text, and comments appropriate for all ages.
5. HAVE FUN!

Day 150- More Dandelion

I know I recently posted a dandelion gone to seed, but I couldn't resist this one. They just look so delicate once they've gone to seed.

Day 149- Recovering

My son has two weeks until graduation. He's making due the best he can with his aircast. Fortunately he gets to keep his school laptop for a few more days!

Day 148- White Lilac

This weekend the rain finally stopped and the sun came out. My lilacs decided to join in, with a red azalea bush in the background.

Day 147- Time to Weed

No, the bunnies aren't playing "hide & seek". This is supposed to be a garden bed. Guess it's time to weed!

Day 146- Cra-Z-Boy

This is the infamous Cra-Z-Boy, a motorized La-Z-Boy envisioned and built by my son, even with a healing leg in a cast. He presents the senior project later this week after finishing up one more final. Almost there!

Day 144- Exploding Azalea

Well... not really. Just looks a tad bit like it's exploding. Tried manipulating the focus with a slow shutter speed again as I did yesterday, but with a different subject.

Day 143- Anticipation of Lily

I manipulated the focus with a slow shutter speed. Gave this lily a very soft look!

Day 142- Dandelion

Seems like last week the dandelions were just beginning to bloom. Now they're already proceeding to go to seed. Although they're a pest, they do have their beautiful qualities!

P.S: I may have found a "fix" to my blurry shots on Blogger. I've begun posting from Flickr instead of from my computer, and it seems to have improved image quality. Let me know what you think!

Day 141- Good and Plenty!

My standard stress-busting candy- Good & Plenty! They are indeed good, and because nobody else in my family likes them... there truly are plenty left for me!

Day 140- Marble

Marble by kayaker1204
I was doing some cleaning at school this afternoon and found a bag of marbles. This would be one of those big marbles, with the others all smaller. It's been about 35 years since I've played marbles. I think we called the big one a "whopper", but apparently there are a host of other names: bowler, bumboozer, bumbo, and taw are all names given to the large marble in a game of marbles. What did you call it?

Day 139- Spring Has Sprung

Spring Has Sprung by kayaker1204
Yes, spring has sprung outdoors... and in my classroom! Hang on for those last weeks of the school year!

Day 138- The Ants Go Marching...

After the amount of rain we've had, if I were an ant... I'd be marching out too. (By the way, the brown mounds in the back are all more of the same!)

Day 137- Pink Azalea

Purple azalea bloomed last week. This week it's the pink azalea's turn. These are two of the reasons I love spring!

Day 136- More Rain

This morning I logged in 1.35" of rain. Tonight we've clearly added an additional .04". The grass should really "green up" after this!

Day 135- Tulip in Rain

Lots of rain predicted for this week. Will try to make the most of what nature offers!

Day 134- Courage

My son continues to face some pretty significant pain as he recovers from his dirt bike accident a few weeks ago. Today my daughter and I started posting some supportive quotes on his bedroom wall to help keep his spirits up. This one is my personal favorite.

Day 133- Fern Forming

Everything in the yard is beginning to come back to life. Even this fern.

Day 132- Dandelions

Yes, spring is definitely here once the dandelions start taking over! I processed this in PSE9, using the Sponge effect.

Day 131- Free

For those of you following the post-dirt bike accident saga of my son, graduation is one month away, and after getting caught up on homework and finals, he will begin working on his senior project (with much assembly assistance from my husband). They found this free recliner on the side of the road last weekend, perfect for his project- a motorized recliner that can be driven down the road! Only problem is, ever since the recliner showed up in the garage, Graham thinks it's actually his chair instead!

Day 130- Aircast

Today marked progress for my son on two fronts. His dressing and bandages were swapped for an air cast. Looks like graduation will happen on crutches! In addition, he found out this morning that he's been awarded a small scholarship toward college next year. Maybe things are beginning to look up!

Day 129- Mother's Day Pansies

Got my mother a pansy bowl for Mother's Day.

Day 128- Azalea

We got my son out on the deck for some sun this weekend- crutches and all. Soak in that Vitamin D to help heal the broken bones! Goodness knows my azalea loves it!

Day 127- Weird Bug

This weird-looking bug was walking on my deck this weekend. Not much bigger than my pinkie fingernail. Strange, though!

Day 126- Bumble Bee

Along with lots of pretty new flowers come lots of busy bumble bees! Love snagging a macro shot of one of these guys!

Day 125- Macro Bike Chain

My son was finally discharged from the hospital today after his dirt bike accident on Sunday. He suffered a really bad break in two places to his lower leg. This is a macro view of the dirt bike chain.

Day 124- Pucker Up

Another pic from the Aquarium du Quebec. Here's hoping life slows down enough soon to post more recent shots.

Tuesday, May 3, 2011

Day 123- Jelly

Another shot from the Quebec trip, specifically the Aquarium du Quebec. Jelly, anyone?

Day 122- Columns

Last night my son was in a bad dirt bike accident, and had surgery. Looks like a while before he's discharged and back to normal, so with my apologies, this week may be a variety of unpublished photos from previous week's. This shot is from outside of Basilica St. Anne de Beaupre outside of Quebec City.

Day 121- Pretty

I have no idea what this bush is. I thought it was a form of azalea (and it still might be), but I can't confirm that. Meanwhile these pretty blooms appear every year, looking a little like Lily-of-the-Valley, but much higher off the ground. Any ideas?

Day 120- Macro Forsythia

Got a shot of the newly bloomed forsythia! I love spring!

Day 119- Graham

It's been a while since I've posted Graham. He was enjoying the sunshine today, following his "peeps" around the yard like a dog!
