About Project 365

Thanks for stopping by my blog! This is Year 2 of my Project365 blog. What is a Project 365? It's a photo challenge involving people from all over the world posting one photo per day throughout 2011. Some photographers choose themes, however for now my photos will be totally random. I will be shooting with my Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSi-18-55mm, 75-300mm zoom and 100mm 2.8 macro lenses. I edit in iPhoto and Photoshop Elements 9. Not all photos are "perfect"; the purpose is to make photography an everyday event.

I am not a professional. Photography has always been a diversion of mine. I am a primary grade teacher and passionate tech. enthusiast. I consider myself an experienced amateur with LOTS to learn!

You will find links to other photographers in the sidebar- do check them out! I have also joined the Flickr EdTech 365/2011 Group, and you can click this link to view the entire pool. I will be posting my photos to their group pool, as well as here on my photo blog. I welcome your constructive criticism!

Guidelines

1. Photos are to be taken in 2011.
2. Post your own work only.
3. Images may be edited or unedited- your choice.
4. Keep your images, text, and comments appropriate for all ages.
5. HAVE FUN!

Day 4- Bottle Cap

We finally finished cleaning out my mom's house over vacation, and it even sold too. I can't tell you how many things we encountered (and eventually threw out) that we found multiples of, or wondered why they'd been kept. The short answer is that my dad was a consummate pack rat! This was among a large box of bottle caps kept long after my parents stopped making homemade root beer. (Who makes their own soda anymore?)

  1. I love the shades of colour. They blind very well together. It's also cool that you can look at a simple bottle cap and see different things (ring, crown, chocolate wrapper mold, etc.). Nicely done.

  2. I didn't know people ever made their own soda. :) Wish I could taste some of it.

  3. Wow! I love the idea of homemade rootbeer. My husband cleaned out his parents house a few years back and there was so much junk. Receipts collected over many years, used wrapping paper from gifts of many years, etc..... These days he wonders about some things that would have been nice to save but probably got tossed with the rubbish. Oh well....

I love the way you shot this bottle cap. The golden tones are wonderful.

  4. Growing up our childless neighbours used to make rootbeer and hand it out around the neighbourhood - what a treat it was to find a shaded spot and sip that delicious cold drink right out of the bottle! Very fond memories triggered by that simple bottle cap.
